Workshop Details

for this half day workshop on Self Compassion.

     With self-compassion, we give ourselves the same kindness and care we  would give a good friend. Self-compassion can be learned by anyone, regardless of upbringing and past family experiences. It is a courageous way to confront harm, including the harm that we impose on ourselves through our shortcomings – real or perceived, self-doubt, self-criticism, or self-judgment.  Self-compassion provides emotional strength and resilience, allowing us to admit our limitations, forgive ourselves, motivate ourselves with kindness, care for others, be fully human, and embrace the human experience. By caring for our authentic self, we can then be prepared to be fully present and care for others.  Research shows that self-compassion is strongly associated with emotional well-being, lower levels of depression and anxiety, healthy habits such as diet and exercise, and more satisfying personal relationships.

During this 8 week class you will be introduced to many strategies and techniques to help reduce stress and anxiety in your daily life including mindfulness, breathing techniques, mindful walking and eating, grounding in the senses, eliminating negative thinking, emotional regulation, the neuroscience of mindfulness, the stress response, and mindfulness in the body.
